Welcome to the Bujinkan Okabe Dojo

The Bujinkan Okabe Dojo is under the direction of Da’aboth Te’He’Ling (David Keith Heald) Judan Kugyo (10th Dan Void level).

Da'aboth has been a personal student of Hatsumi Masaaki since 1988 and has travelled to Japan several times to train with his teacher. He has over the years, trained many of the high ranking practitioners in the UK and Europe (especially Germany).

Two of his direct students, Bill Liddle and John Gardner, have both reached the Judan level and now have Dojo of their own.

Starting training in Bujinkan Ninpo Taijutsu during 1980 at Aldershot, later moving to Guildford before acquiring a permanent dojo in Liphook Hants; Da'aboth has now moved to the capital and teaches near his home in Chiswick, West London.

There is apparently no theme for 2009, but Sensei has said we should study the rope and sword. so we will be doing that this year. In line with this I will be working on the Kukishinden Ryu Dakentaijutsu and Bikenjutsu; and Shinden Fudo Ryu Taijutsu and Hojojutsu (rope) throughout the year.

June/July training

We will still be working on Kukishinden Ryu sword and also Dakentaijutsu; but I will be looking at the Kihon Happo and the Kaeshi Kihon Happo (counters). Please bring wooden long and short swords to the training.

Check with the seminar page for Shidoshi training. These will be extended (4 hours) Sunday training open to everyone. We will work each time on a specific school or weapon. I expect to do about 6 extended sessions this year.

Training

Although I tend to favour the arts of the Kukishinden Ryu, I train in all the schools of the Bujinkan. We use all of the weapons of the 9 schools in our training, which I believe is in line with the traditional teachings. We are also aware of modern developments and weaponry and it is interesting to note that armour is once again becoming the norm for the police and the military.

These martial arts are not sport martial arts. Therefore there are no formal competitions or tournaments. Ranks are awarded when the student demonstrates competency and an appropriate level of commitment. The training is fun and informal, suitable for both male and female practitioners. Students will learn the traditional methods of hand to hand combat (Taijutsu) and the use of traditional weapons.

Training is for:

Acquiring the capability of defending yourself and others
Maintaining a compassionate attitude toward others
  Cultivating a natural lifestyle

As Hatsumi Sensei says; "I am teaching you how to live, not how to die".

Training takes place:
Sundays 11am - 1pm
Chiswick Community School,
Burlington Lane,
Chiswick,
London
W4 3UN

Bujinkiden

I have developed an energy enhancing practice known as Bujinkiden (the transmission of the Divine Warrior energy); this has its roots in the techniques of the Ninja, Yamabushi, Shugendo and Taoist practices; and a spiritual order known as "the Knights of the Solar Cross". If you are interested in learning these techniques,
